I’m definitely someone who will spend a ridiculous amount of money on beauty products. I love trying all different brands (expensive and inexpensive), but I’m a sucker for good quality inexpensive products. So, I put together a list of things I enjoy using daily (or at least when I decide to throw myself together). Everything can either be purchased at Target, Walmart, or Amazon. I will link some of the items throughout the post and also have them all listed at the bottom!
We’ll start out with our skincare products…
I’ve been using the CerVe Cleanser for normal-oily skin for probably 4 or 5 years now. I used to struggle with finding a cleanser that didn’t make my skin feel like I sucked the life out of it. You know that tight feeling where it feels like you just need to keep splashing water on your face over and over? This doesn’t do that. It leaves your skin feeling fresh and hydrated. They also have a cleanser for normal-to-dry and one specifically for acne-prone skin! I’ve even talked my husband into using it in his routine!
CeraVe AM Moisturizing Lotion with SPF and Moisturizing Cream
After cleansing my face in the morning with the cleanser I will apply the AM Moisturizing Lotion. If you’re not using a sunscreen on your face, you definitely should be. The biggest problem I have with traditional sunscreen is it always seems to clog my pores and results in breakouts. I have never had that problem with this. I use this on days I don’t plan on being in the sun at all, and I also will throw this in my beach bag when I head to the beach or the pool. At the end of my nighttime routine, I will apply the Moisturizing Cream to finish everything off. Depending on the time of year, I typically have more of a combination skin type; the majority of the center of my face is oily while the outer edge of my face is super dry. I think this product is actually aimed more towards dryer skin types, but I’m one of those weirdos that have to have 3 fans pointing at my face throughout the night so if I skip this step my face feels disgusting all over the next morning.
Let’s talk makeup
REAL TECHNIQUES Expert Face Brush
Just yesterday I was telling someone how much they needed this brush! The Expert Face Brush is my go-to brush for blending out foundation, but it’s also good for applying a more compact powder or even concealer. You could honestly use it for blending out any face product. It’s dense enough to push the product into your skin leaving you with an airbrush finish.
Maybelline Fit Me concealer and Loose Finishing Powder
I would probably call this a medium coverage concealer that is buildable. I like this because it doesn’t leave your under eye feeling caked up. No one is trying to look older around here. I think its a pretty close dupe to the Nars Creamy Concealer. After applying my foundation and concealer I will then set my face with the Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder. I use two shades. I have a lighter shade for my under eye area and use a little bit of a darker shade around the rest of my face! The powder also feels very light on the skin but will have your makeup lasting ALL DAY.
L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara
I’ve always gotten questions about what I use on my eyelashes. I like my eyelashes black as black can be, thick, and practically touching my eyebrows. IT DOES ALL OF THAT. This mascara is not flakey, and they even have a waterproof version. This is 100% a dupe for Better than Sex by Too Faced with a much friendlier price tag.
Finally, let’s talk about hair
I know, I know, there’s a lot of controversy on baby powder but trust me… this is the best and most inexpensive way to keep your hair looking fresh (and it smells nice too). Any kind of baby powder will do! Currently, I’m using Target’s “Up and Up” brand. Now, I’m going to let you in on a little secret… a life hack, if you will… the key to actually achieving the fresh hair look, is by sprinkling the baby powder in your hair AT NIGHT. Don’t rub it in. Don’t mess with it at all. Sprinkle it at your roots all throughout your head, and go to sleep. You will wake up with not only fresh hair but also more volume! When you wake up if you still have a little bit of a white cast, you can then rub it in and brush through it. It is seriously the best. Speaking of brushing…
The Wet Brush
You probably already have one of these, if you don’t it’s time to get on board. This is honestly the best brush to use when trying to detangle your hair. It’s gentle and doesn’t make you feel like you’re ripping out every strand. While we are on this topic… if you have a difficult time brushing through your hair make sure you are starting from the bottom and working your way up. Otherwise, you’re just making a bigger problem at the bottom!
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle
This deep conditioner is one of the best out there. I couldn’t tell you the number of times I’ve had someone ask me about a product they can buy from the drug store for dry hair. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. This is my answer. This conditioner leaves your hair feeling so soft and probably better than half of the salon-quality products. You CANNOT beat the price. It’s also light-weight enough that you can use it every time you shampoo your hair.
